Senate District 33 is a wonderfully diverse community. We are fortunate to have many advantages - good schools and many good jobs, an abundance of choices for entertainment and shopping, award-winning hospitals, an international airport, and many transportation options. However, not all of our neighbors are living comfortably. I've spent many years working with our neighbors who face challenges with job loss, health challenges, balancing work and family life, the cost and time spent in traffic. The COVID-19 pandemic has put a spotlight on these challenges as we have seen that our lower income and minority communities suffered greater economic loss and tragically, greater loss of loved ones.
I understand the difficulties we confront on a daily basis. That’s why I have committed my life to serving our community. I continue to advocate on our behalf. The economy, education, health care, and human services are all connected in so many ways. I work to make strides in these areas, but also to make sure they are operated in a fiscally responsible manner. I strive to streamline these services in order to create the most efficient and effective solution. I work toward creating long-term transportation and infrastructure solutions, two vital components to the quality of life and economic health of our region. Government should work for us, not for a political party, not for a personal agenda.
